About UsYeah you got it right the first time. The name is simply 2A (taken from our address at 2A Strathairn Avenue, off Ruthven Road -an oasis located on the cusp of the busy New Kingston corridor). We have decided that we won't make this about a name, as the quality of the experience often gets lost in the hype surrounding the brand, but rather, we want to offer an experience which will validate itself in time.
2A is the latest addition to Kingston's cityscape and provides a return to a more genteel nightlife. It is a seafood restaurant with a difference and is the place for a quiet night out with your friends. The question unasked is what is the difference? At 2A we bring the flavour and energy of Jamaica's several fishing villages scattered across the Island uptown to urban Kingston. We intend to reintroduce Jamaicans and, of course, our guests from overseas to an array of styles of cooking seafood which is entirely Jamaican and which captures the nuances peculiar to the regional fishing villages. It is not intended to be yet another haute cuisine restaurant...those have their place but this is simply and very deliberately: "fi wi sinting" . Comfortably seating 80 guests at a sitting, our tables are arranged with absolute freedom in mind - freedom to chat, freedom to drink and of course freedom to choose from our heavily seafood influenced menu. For smaller groups of 20 to 40 persons we can arrange reserved seating indoors in our air conditioned conference rooms or outdoors in a separated patio area. Each of our five seating areas has a specific theme 1.The "Palanka" Bar and Lounge is designed to capture an Old Jamaican aura of rusticism. With its big screen TVs always tuned into sports. It is a favourite of the younger set. 2.The "Kyapcha Lan" An outdoor patio setting. This cozy little patio is especially attractive to groups who want to sit together and celebrate whilst not feeling locked away. 3.Anansi's Web this is our trademark garden or general seating area. Here the Universe is viewed through the intricate pattern designed by Bredda Nansi. Guests can choose to sit at more intimate 2 or 4 seater settings under the stars or choose to save the world in discussion at larger 6 seater round tables. 4. Strathairn Conference Centre offers a 700 square foot modern conference facility accommodating smaller groups ideally 20 to 40 persons. Our plans include in the near future the expansion of our covered seating areas to accommodate another 60 guests.
